Marilyn Bishop Shaw is the author
of the beloved children's book Solomon. Enjoyed by children and
adults alike, Solomon is a story of strength, survival and the
importance of family. Shaw comes from a long line of storytellers.
Growing up on a farm near a small town in North Florida, she later
moved back to teach in the very same town. Her interest in Florida
history inspired her to write Solomon.

Press has announced the release the paperback edition of
Solomon to be available August, 2008. Author, Marilyn Bishop
Shaw, said, "I'm excited about the paperback release.
Schools are already using Solomon for schoolwide or class
studies largely because it's Florida history and has excellent
curricular connections. The availability of paperbacks will
make it possible to put books in more students' hands. We
know that read alouds are effective but developing independent
readers is really what we need to do."
