Marilyn Bishop Shaw

I had a great time meeting the members of the Howard Bishop Middle School Creative Writing Club.

         It was immediately clear that these students are talented writers with interest ranging from fantasy to nonfiction. They asked questions that demonstrated how serious they are about being published themselves. They were curious about all things related to the actual publication process: How do you get a publisher? How long did it take to publish my book? What do you send a publisher? How do you decide what genre you will write?

         It’ll be no surprise to see some of these young people published in a few years. My only regret is that we had just one club period to talk and the questions could have gone on and on! Thanks to language arts teacher and faculty adviser, Betsy Coleman, for inviting me.
